The inspiration for the idea of establishing her own company, Prosapia came to Rasuole Jasnauskiene while eagerly awaiting the birth of her first grandchild.
Like many grandmothers, she wanted to find the perfect gift for the new parents. After reading about Finland’s tradition of gifting new parents a box filled with baby essentials—including clothes, necessary items, and a mattress— she knew the inspiration has come!
Not only did she acquire such a box, but she also began to consider how this concept could turn into a business—one that is set to succeed not just in Lithuania, but in many other countries. As of today, Prosapia rides in having the opportunity to provide service for customers in 63 countries, including all the EU member states.
“All babies are equal and should receive equal care, at least during their first months,” R. Jasnauskiene told The Baltic Times Magazine with a smile.
It includes everything a baby needs during the first months, like clothes for both indoor and outdoor use, a mattress, a thermometer, diapers, and basic care products for the mother. All is packed in a box that also serves as the baby’s first bed.
“Depending on the baby’s growth, the contents of this box can be useful for up to a year,” explains R. Jasnauskiene.
Rasuole is committed to quality and ensuring both babies and parents are satisfied. She personally selected all the items, choosing only those that are high-quality and durable.
“All the clothes are made from 100% organic cotton and natural cotton. The box is made of sturdy cardboard and can hold up to 60 kg. Babies feel cozy in smaller spaces, helping them fall asleep faster. There’s no need for a pillow; the mattress alone is enough until the baby is ready to sleep in a bed, usually when they start rolling over. Once the box is no longer used for sleeping, it can be repurposed as a memory or storage box,” she explains.
Rasuole also put great thought into the packaging design. She collaborated with illustrator Vilija Kvieskaite, who created beautiful packaging using soft pastel colors and nature-inspired motifs. “The appearance of the packaging is important. A beautifully wrapped gift for expecting parents not only reduces the stress of preparing for a baby but also makes the waiting period more enjoyable,” says Jasnauskiene. In her experience, new parents are often overwhelmed by the number of items a baby needs.
With Baby’s Nest, parents can breathe a sigh of relief. The set includes 35 essential items for both the mother and baby during those life-changing first months. Inspired by Scotland’s initiative to provide new parents with similar gift baskets, Rasuole presented her business to several Lithuanian municipalities.
“So far, a few municipalities have gotten involved and offer Baby’s Nest sets to new parents free of charge. Others are still working on finding the budget for this project,” she says.
Aware that some newborns arrive in families facing financial difficulties or where the parent is single, Rasuole launched an initiative to help those in need. A portion of the profit from each Baby’s Nest sold goes towards providing free sets to families who cannot afford them. The Baby’s Nest team works with social workers who identify new mothers in need of assistance during the first months of their baby’s life.Understanding the unique needs of premature babies, Jasnauskiene also developed a special Baby’s Nest for preemies.
“There’s a shortage of products for premature babies in the market. I consulted numerous doctors and specialists to ensure that the items are suitable for such tiny newborns,” she explains.
The Baby’s Nest for preemies includes smaller clothes with buttons to make dressing easier. Like the standard set, everything is made from 100 percent natural cotton. With the business expanding, Rasuole has invested in upgrading her website, making it more user-friendly and enhancing the shopping experience. She also decided to create a special, durable gift bag for mothers, made from a unique paper material that is washable at 60°C, spin dry, or dry-cleaned.
This innovative bag, developed in collaboration with the Kaunas University of Technology’s Environmental Institute (KTU APINI), is a more durable and sustainable alternative to traditional bags, which tend to wear out quickly.
“To encourage repairing rather than discarding, the bag comes with a patch of the same material that can be sewn onto any damaged area,” says Jasnauskiene.
The bag is designed to be practical and versatile—it can hang on a baby stroller or even an electric scooter, and it’s large enough to hold a laptop, baby diapers, and other essentials. It’s perfect for travel, business
meetings, or leisure activities in the park – for the entire family, the dad, the mom or their teenage son or daughter.
“The bag is practical and stylish, making it a great fit for fathers or anyone who values functionality and unique materials, Baby’s Nest founder proudly notes.
