Creating Products for Children: Sustainability is a Key

Ecology and sustainability are no longer just the latest trends, they are integral to everyday product development for both children and adults.

We discussed the importance of creating eco-friendly solutions and how often parents seek such products for their children on the Švarūs miestai (Clean Cities) show on Lietuvos Ryto TV.

For several years now, we have been guided by the principle that sustainability and care for the little ones are not only compatible but also essential. Growing children deserve the best, so sustainability and ecology are a necessary consideration in creating clothing, accessories, items, and toys for children today.

Sustainable box – a safe cradle for a child

In our daily operations, we consistently offer sustainable solutions. For instance, our baby nests feature sustainable springs that transform, at first glance, a simple box into a baby cradle. As the baby grows, this box can be repurposed for storing items. Our Castile soap can confidently be used when going out into nature, as the product is environmentally friendly – washed and released into the environment, it breaks down into biological components.

Currently, we are also developing a multipurpose handbag-backpack, which will be a sustainable fashion item. This versatile accessory is made exclusively from natural materials and is suitable for everyone: whether traveling, going to work, walking in the park with a child, going to a meeting, or even a date.

Increasingly more parents are looking for eco-friendly products

We have observed a growing trend where parents increasingly prioritise ecology and sustainability when selecting products for their children.

"Not long ago, the concept of sustainability or symbols indicating eco-friendly products may have been more of a fashion statement, but today, many parents prioritise only sustainable products. We see this reflected in the growing interest in baby nests containing eco-friendly products, all of which we manufacture ourselves. For example, we can offer the option to assemble the contents of the baby nest yourself. We notice a trend that only top-quality products are included in these contents: not only 100% cotton clothing but also cosmetics made from natural ingredients, both for the baby and for the mother after childbirth," says Rasuolė Jasnauskienė, the creator of Baby's Nest.

We care for the little ones and their environment.

In our operations, we strive to care not only for the babies who come to our world and their parents but also for the environment in which we live. Therefore, the Baby’s Nest baby box – crib – is ecological and sustainable, made from recycled, sturdy five-layer corrugated cardboard, with an icon on the bottom informing the buyer about the product. It is important to note that international EN tests have been conducted on the box and mattress, demonstrating compliance with standards.

Like many suppliers, we reuse good, undamaged packaging (the ones we receive goods in from suppliers), repack them, and send them to our customers. We select only responsible suppliers who promote sustainability in their production. Therefore, all packages are recyclable and marked.
